Secondary English Teacher – Craig Kielburger Secondary School

What do you love most about your job?

I love being a teacher! I especially cherish the relationships I have with staff, students, and the larger community. I am so grateful that I get to work amongst so many intelligent individuals who inspire me everyday.

I also love getting to know my students and supporting them as they develop their strengths and interests. I run a club called The Spartan Stitchers where I meet with students who enjoy knit and crochet; we’ve been making newborn baby hats for Milton District Hospital and worry worms for students with mental health concerns. It’s been amazing to connect with students as we give back to the community.

What is a challenge you face?

One challenge I face is keeping pace with our everchanging world.

A lot has happened over the past few years: we are destreaming English, recovering from the global pandemic, and trying to work with and around AI.

It’s a lot!

What is a quick win, or tiny victory you’d like to celebrate?

I’ve done a good job adding more wellness activities to my classroom this week. Our CK Mental Wealth team makes it easy!

What is something that others might now know about you?

I was born on Mother’s Day!

What words of love/encouragement do you have for your fellow humans of HDSB?

You are making a difference!
