Department Head of Arts and French / Classroom French Teacher – CKSS

What do you love most about your job?

I love my colleagues in my department so much. They make everything fun and we always have a great time collaborating, creating and having many many laughs.

What I love most about teaching students is having grade nine students who enter the French classroom on the first day of school apprehensive about the semester that is about to begin and then hear them talk about how much they have loved being in French class by the end of the first week.

Making students feel comfortable, safe and accepted in my classroom is my goal.

Ultimately, the combination of teaching, creating relationships with students and leadership makes my job incredibly fulfilling and gratifying.

What is a challenge you face?

Trying to stay positive in a field of work that is scrutinized constantly by the world outside of education.

What is a recent tiny victory, or quick win you’d like to celebrate?

Having students let me know that they feel safe to express themselves as they are in the French classroom.

What words of love & encouragement would you like to share with your fellow Humans?

Make great memories and take care of you and your families!

What is something others may now know about you?

I really love to travel and take that opportunity to travel whenever I can with my kids!
